Grinnin' in Your Face

Well, these days that ol' fall fashion bug has bitten me hard and I'm utterly failing in my attempts to hold back from shopping too much...

Had to get this necklace to brighten up my fall colored outfits...

While I'm at it, I also am obsessing over this here necklace...

Oh etsy, you are my downfall tonight and always...

I'll Fly Away

(Still in the Gillian Welch mood...)

Saw a coworker wearing this necklace and was immediately obsessed! And look, there's lots of other hidden-knife necklaces too! I dunno, there's something intriguing and pleasing about carrying a clandestine blade around one's neck...

Blame It On the Sun

by Stevie Wonder

Erie Basin consistently has the most beautiful vintage jewelry around...not that I've even been to the Brooklyn shop in person! But I am always impressed and obsessed with the pieces, like this incredible necklace.

Precious Things

Oh, let's have a jewelry moment, shall we?

This necklace is awe-inducing.

Key necklace by sadie. Simple beauty.

Back when I ventured to the mall a few weeks ago, I saw an older lady rocking effing amazing snake earrings! They totally worked, too. Loved it, and haven't forgotten. These cobra earrings are not really similar to what she had, but they're still bad ass.

I can't have a post without some turquoise somewhere, can I?

Or something that comes from Mexico!

Glen Tipton

by Sun Kil Moon

I am quite the nervous nell tonight...I have a job interview tomorrow and I want it to go perfectly!

To calm my nerves (and procrastinate about prepping myself) I spent some time finding some beautiful jet pieces on etsy!

I have a real thing for Victorian hand pieces right now. Not that I own any, but I am thinking of someday starting a collection. As this brooch demonstrates, they are graceful and mysterious.

This mourning locket is not photographed so well, but I love the image of the downward-flowers on the jet case. Romantic, tragic, haunting...

p.s. My absolute favorite place to drool over vintage jewelry is Erie Basin, a shop one of my best friends introduced me to. I wish they both were in SF closer to me instead of so far across the country!

Refuse from a Silver Phial

by Gene Clark

Life has been absolutely flying by lately, faster than ever! I can't believe we're almost through with January already...what!? Anyway, I hate to be such a blatant copycat, but when I saw this necklace at Indian Summer Vintage (an awesome blog, btw!), I fell head over heels at first sight...

Navajo silver beads...incredible! And I managed to find and win (by the skin of my teeth!) a similar one of my own on ebay. I truly couldn't help myself. It hasn't arrived yet but I am thrilled and see it not just as jewelry but also as an inspirational piece of art that will hang on my wall when it's not hanging around my neck!

Colorado Girl

by Townes Van Zandt

I got a new plain ol' Balinese black shell yesterday, and am now looking for the perfect wooden necklace to compliment it. A few options:

Option 1 is gorge!

Option 2 is muy expensivo, but so striking! It reminds me of shark's teeth, which is a good thing!

Option 3 is pretty but a touch too short for my needs.

And then there's option 4!

Silver White Light

by Terry Reid

Totally obsessing over laurel wreaths lately and this laurel wreath necklace in this month's Lucky knocked me out! This piece is amazing all the way round. In fact, I kinda want all of these to wear at once, perhaps?

Fleur Crest necklace.

The Whale Has Swallowed Me

I don't know an avid Mad Men viewer who has emerged untouched by the incredible sets and costuming of the show. I get giddy each Sunday, eagerly anticipating the next episode, its flawless writing and its shot of mid-century goodness. Perhaps in part I like the decor because where I grew up a lot of things had been built in the early 60s and not much had changed. It's a bit like going home. Anyway...

Am I crazy? I think this cave-paintings dress is aaaamaazing!

Crystal

Been having a lot of crystal visions myself lately. Pardon me, I'm just going through this heavy agate and crystal thing right now.

Erica Weiner makes effing amazing jewelry in general and this necklace is out of control!

And this notebook is gorge.

These are actually hand made soaps! Love em!

Kind of in love with these rings too, but they seem delicate and easily breakable too for someone as klutzy as me...I'm no ballerina like Stevie Nicks.

Another World

This is quite good.

Been thinking lately about getting some cups made from recycled glass bottles. These used to be wine bottles -- and now look at em!

I die. This map kills me. Originally spotted on i suwannee months ago. Still in my brain.

Walk Like An Egyptian

True life fact: I'm still terrified of mummies and other dead rotting things. But those Egyptians did have influential style:

Egyptian collared shirt from the Met.

I actually own these scarab earrings already...gotta get my Egypt on!

The beading on this necklace is hella cool, and it's got lotus flowers, always a plus when you're feeling ancient. Love this one too, and it's much easier on the wallet:

Now where could I sport it?
